The white wine Le Piton 2023 from our estate in Sancerre was honored to appear among the favorites of the wine and lifestyle magazine Bacchus :
"Nestled on the slopes of the Loire Valley, the Sancerre appellation—one of the most renowned in France—owes its prestige to its Sauvignon Blanc, which is lively, taut, and remarkably precise. On this unique terroir, a blend of flint, pebbles, and Kimmeridgian marl, the soil expresses itself as much as the vine. It is in this setting that Domaine du Piton cultivates, with rigor and discretion, a savoir-faire that brings Sauvignon Blanc to its purest expression, as evidenced by this “Le Piton” cuvée. On the nose, the wine unfolds aromas of lime zest and white grapefruit flesh, followed, in successive waves, by a sharp, almost iodine-like minerality. One can sense sun-warmed stone and flint. The palate is crisp and clean. The acidity is well-controlled and the freshness lively. But beneath this tension lies an unexpected roundness: stone fruits, a touch of juicy pear, and a few floral notes. Just enough depth to captivate, without ever becoming tiresome.
"Let it breathe in a decanter for about 20 minutes and serve at 12°C. It pairs well with Crottin de Chavignol (goat cheese), pan-seared langoustines, turkey cutlets in curry sauce, or oysters with lime."
